Garfield's First Comic

Garfield's first appearance in the newspapers was on the 19th of June, 1978. He was born under Mama Leone's Italian Restaurant and was adopted soon after by cartoonist Jon Arbuckle. He's fat, lazy, arrogant and extremely sarcastic, that's probably why we love him.

His best friend, although he may not admit it, is Jon's other pet, Odie. Garfield likes to vary his diet to something in his bowl, something on Jon's plate, and whatever is left over, but his #1 food is the traditional lasagne. (I'm guessing that this is because of where he was born.)
